None of this chapter appears elsewhere. And from now on, no more is reported about the northern kingdom, Israel, because it fell to Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, early in Hezekiah’s reign.
2Chr. 30:1 And Hezekiah sent over all Israel and Judah, and also wrote letters over Ephraim and Manasseh, to come to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem to observe Passover to the Lord, God of Israel,
2Chr. 30:2 as the king had consulted, and his princes and all the congregation were to observe the Passover in Jerusalem during the second month.
2Chr. 30:3 For they had not been able to observe it at its time because of the priests, they had not sanctified themselves enough, or the people been assembled to Jerusalem.
2Chr. 30:4 So the accommodation was right in the eyes of the king and in the eyes of the entire congregation.
2Chr. 30:5 And they established an act for a proclamation to be passed throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba and up to Dan, to come to observe Passover to the Lord, God of Israel, in Jerusalem, for they had not observed in large numbers as was written.
2Chr. 30:6 And the runners went with the letters from the hand of the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and as the command of the king saying, “Children of Israel, return to the Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that He return to the escaped remnant remaining to you from the hand of the kings of Assyria.”
2Chr. 30:7 “And you must not be like your fathers and like your brethren who dealt so treacherously with the Lord, God of their ancestors, that He delivered them to be an astonishment, as you are seeing.”
2Chr. 30:8 “Now you must not be stiff necked as were your fathers; give a hand to the Lord and come in to His sanctuary that He has sanctified forever, and serve the Lord, your God, so He turns away the ferocity of His ‘anger’ from you.”
2Chr. 30:9 “For by your turning back over to the Lord, your brethren and your children will be for compassion before their captors and for returning to this land, for the Lord, your God, is gracious and merciful and He will not turn the face from you if you will return to Him.”
2Chr. 30:10 And the runners were passing through from city to city in the land of Ephraim and of Manasseh and as far as Zebulun, but they were laughing at them and being derisive with them.
2Chr. 30:11 Yet some from Asher and Manasseh and from Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.
2Chr. 30:12 The “hand” of God was also in Judah to give to them one heart to do the command of the king and the princes according to the word of the Lord.
2Chr. 30:13 And many people gathered to Jerusalem to observe the feast of unleavened bread during the second month, a congregation in exceeding abundance.
2Chr. 30:14 And they rose and removed the altars that were in Jerusalem, and they removed all the incense altars, and they cast into the brook Kidron.
2Chr. 30:15 And they slaughtered the Pascal lamb on the second month's fourteenth, and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and they sanctified themselves and brought burnt offerings to the house of the Lord.
2Chr. 30:16 And the priests stood at their place according to their privilege according to the Torah of Moses, the man of God, sprinkling the blood from the hand of the Levites.
2Chr. 30:17 Because many who had not sanctified themselves were in the congregation, so the Levites were over the slaughter of the Pascal lambs for everyone not clean to sanctify to the Lord.
2Chr. 30:18 For a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves. Still they ate the Pascal lamb without it being as written, for Hezekiah had prayed on their behalf saying, “Let the good Lord make atonement on behalf
2Chr. 30:19 of everyone whose heart is set to seek God, the Lord, God of his ancestors, even if not as clean as a holy thing.”
2Chr. 30:20 And the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people.
2Chr. 30:21 And the children of Israel who were present in Jerusalem observed the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness as the Levites and the priests were singing praises to the Lord day by day with instruments of power to the Lord.
2Chr. 30:22 And Hezekiah spoke enthusiastically of all the Levites, who were the Lord's highly suited. And they ate the appointed time of the seven days slaughtering sacrifices of peace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord, God of their ancestors.
2Chr. 30:23 And all of the congregation counseled together to observe another seven days, so they celebrated seven days of gladness.
As the people had celebrated the completion of the Temple by Solomon by adding seven days before the Feast of Tabernacles, as told in 2Chr. 7:9, so they now extended the Passover observance for an additional seven days.
2Chr. 30:24 For Hezekiah, king of Judah, contributed to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep, and the princes contributed to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep, and priests sanctified themselves in large numbers.
2Chr. 30:25 And all the congregation of Judah rejoiced, and the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation who had come from Israel, and the sojourners who had come from the land of Israel and were dwelling in Judah.
2Chr. 30:26 And such great gladness was throughout Jerusalem that since the days of Solomon son of David, king of Israel, as such had not been in Jerusalem.
2Chr. 30:27 And the priests, the Levites, arose and blessed the people, and He listened to their voice as their prayer went to the habitation of His holiness, to the heavens.
