2Chr. 3:1   Then Solomon began building the house of the Lord in Jerusalem on mount Moriah, where He had appeared to David, his father, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite.

We haven’t read that the Temple was built on mount Moriah until now.  That was supposed to be the mountain in the land of Moriah on which God directed Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.

2Chr. 3:2   And he began building on the second [day] in the second month in his reign's fourth year.

The word for day does not appear in the Hebrew.

2Chr. 3:3   And Solomon was to have established these for building the house of God:  By the earliest measure, the length of cubits was sixty cubits, and width twenty cubits.

In 1Kin. 6:2, we also learned that the height of the house was 30 cubits.

2Chr. 3:4   And the porch that was on the front, the length along the face of the width of the house was twenty cubits, and the height was a hundred and twenty, and within he laid over it pure gold.

Another fact revealed here for the first time:  The height of the porch was 120 cubits, or 90 cubits higher than the Temple.  It is presumed to have been a tower that contained the upper rooms mentioned in 1Chr. 28:11.

2Chr. 3:5   And wood of cypresses covered the greater house, and he laid over it fine gold, and he had made palm trees and chains upon it.

2Chr. 3:6   And splendid stone overlaid the house for beauty, and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

2Chr. 3:7   And he laid gold over the house, the beams, the thresholds, and its walls and its doors and carving of cherubim on the walls.

2Chr. 3:8   And he made the home of the holiest of holy things; its length along the face of the width of the house was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits, and he laid fine gold over it, in talents, six hundred.

The third word in this verse is normally translated as house.  But that might be misleading.  I translated it as home to differentiate it from the entire Temple (mentioned in the preceding verse).  The place mentioned here must be the Holy of Holies, the sanctuary in which the holy ark will ultimately have its home.

2Chr. 3:9   And the nails' weight was in gold, fifty shekels.  And he laid gold over the upper chambers.

2Chr. 3:10   And he made in the home of the holiest of holy things two cherubim a work of sculptures, and they laid gold over them.

2Chr. 3:11   And the wings of the cherubim, their length was twenty cubits, the wing of one being five cubits, reaching to the wall of the home, and the other wing, of five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other.

2Chr. 3:12   And a wing of the other cherub being five cubits, was reaching to the wall of the home, and the other wing of five cubits was connected to the wing of the other cherub.

2Chr. 3:13   The spread of the wings of these cherubim was twenty cubits, and they were standing erect on their feet and their faces were inward.

2Chr. 3:14   And he made the veil blue and purple and crimson, and of fine linen, and he set up cherubim upon it.

2Chr. 3:15   And he made in front of the house two pillars of height thirty-five cubits, and the capital that was on each top was five cubits.

2Chr. 3:16   And he made chains in the sanctuary that he put about the top of the pillars, and he made a hundred pomegranates that he put in the chains.

2Chr. 3:17   And he set up the pillars by the front of the Temple, one on the right side and one on the left side, and he called the name of the right one Jachin, and the name of the left one Boaz.

See 1Kin. 7:21 for the meaning of the two names.  The word in the parentheses is misspelled, having an extra yad.  The correction is in the brackets.
