2Chronicles 27

2Chr. 27:1   Jotham was twenty-five years of age on his becoming king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

This verse is an echo of 2Kin. 15:33.  There the name of Jotham’s mother is Jerusha.

2Chr. 27:2   And he did the right thing in the eyes of the Lord like everything that Uzziah, his father, had done except he did not go in to the Temple of the Lord, and the people were yet corrupt.

The information in this verse and the next is contained in 2Kin. 15:34 and 15:35.

2Chr. 27:3   He rebuilt the upper gate of the house of the Lord and built abundantly on the wall of Ophar.

This verse and the next three, to v.27:6, are found no where else.

2Chr. 27:4   And he established cities in the hill country of Judah, and he built castles and towers in the forests.

2Chr. 27:5   And he waged war with the king of the children of Ammon and prevailed against them.  And the children of Ammon gave to him in that year a hundred talents of silver and ten thousand measures of wheat and ten thousand of barley.  The children of Ammon paid this to him as well in the second year and the third.

2Chr. 27:6   So Jotham increased in strength, because he set his ways before the Lord, his God.

2Chr. 27:7   And the rest of the acts of Jotham and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are recorded on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

This verse is similar to 2Kin. 15:36.  There, though, mention of the kings of Israel is omitted.

2Chr. 27:8   He was twenty-five years of age on his becoming king and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

This is a repetition of most of the first verse above.  Why did the chronicler repeat it?  Who knows.

2Chr. 27:9   And Jotham slept with his ancestors, and they buried him in the city of David.  Then Ahaz, his son, became king in his place.

And the information in this verse can be found in 2Kin. 15:38.
