Psalms 5

 

לַמְנַצֵּחַ אֶל־הַנְּחִילוֹת מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃   5:1

Psal. 5:1   For the leader to the flutes, a psalm of David's.

אֲמָרַי הַאֲזִינָה יְהוָה בִּינָה הֲגִיגִי׃   5:2

Psal. 5:2   Hear my words, O Lord,

                            consider my thoughts.

הַקְשִׁיבָה לְקוֹל שַׁוְעִי מַלְכִּי וֵאלֹהָי כִּי־אֵלֶיךָ אֶתְפַּלָּל׃   5:3

Psal. 5:3   Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God,

                            for to You shall I pray.

יְהוָה בֹּקֶר תִּשְׁמַע קֹולִי בֹּקֶר אֶעֱרָךְ־לְךָ וַאֲצַפֶּה׃   5:4

Psal. 5:4   O Lord, morning You shall hear my voice;

                             morning I will arrange myself to You and anticipate.

כִּי לֹא אֵל־חָפֵץ רֶשַׁע אָתָּה לֹא יְגֻרְךָ רָע׃   5:5

Psal. 5:5   For You are not a God desiring wickedness;

                              evil can not sojourn with You.

לֹא־יִתְיַצְּבוּ הוֹלְלִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינֶיךָ שָׂנֵאתָ כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן׃   5:6

Psal. 5:6   Boasters shall not stand in the sight of Your “eyes;”

                             You are the Enemy of all perpetrators of iniquity.

תְּאַבֵּד דֹּבְרֵי כָזָב אִישׁ־דָּמִים וּמִרְמָה יְתָעֵב יְהוָה׃   5:7

Psal. 5:7   You shall destroy speakers of falsehood;

                             anyone of blood and deceit shall be abhorred of the Lord.

וַאֲנִי בְּרֹב חַסְדְּךָ אָבוֹא בֵיתֶךָ אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל־הֵיכַל־קָדְשְׁךָ בְּיִרְאָתֶךָ׃   5:8

Psal. 5:8   But I, in an abundance of Your favor, shall enter Your house.

                             I will worship at the Temple of Your holiness with reverence of You.

יְהוָה נְחֵנִי בְצִדְקָתֶךָ לְמַעַן שֹׁורְרָי (הֹושַׁר) [הַיְשַׁר] לְפָנַי דַּרְךֶּךָ׃   5:9

Psal. 5:9   O Lord, guide me in Your righteousness because of my enemies;

                            make Your way straight before me.

The word in parentheses, translated as make ... straight, is misspelled.  The vav should be a yad, as shown

correctly in the brackets.

כִּי אֵין בְּפִיהוּ נְכוֹנָה קִרְבָּם הַוּוֹת קֶבֶר־פָּתוּחַ גְּרוֹנָם לְשׁוֹנָם יַחֲלִיקוּן׃   5:10

Psal. 5:10   When there is no sincerity in any mouth,

                             their bowels are mischievous,

                       their throat is an open grave,

                             their tongue, would they make it straight?

הַאֲשִׁימֵם אֱלֹהִים יִפְּלוּ מִמֹּעֲצוֹתֵיהֶם בְּרֹב פִּשְׁעֵיהֶם הַדִּיחֵמוֹ כִּי־מָרוּ בָךְ׃   5:11

Psal. 5:11   Hold them guilty, O God!

                             Let them fall by their own devices.

                     With the multitude of their transgressions,

                              let them be cast down!

                      For they have rebelled against You.

וְיִשְׂמְחוּ כָל־חוֹסֵי בָךְ לְעוֹלָם יְרַנֵּנוּ וְתָסֵךְ עָלֵימוֹ וְיַעְלְצוּ בְךָ אֹהֲבֵי שְׁמֶךָ׃   5:12

Psal. 5:12   But let all who take refuge in You rejoice.

                             Forever shall they shout for joy that You spread Your shelter over them,

                      that those who love Your name shall exult in You.

כִּי־אַתָּה תְּבָרֵךְ צַדִּיק יְהוָה כַּצִּנָּה רָצוֹן תַּעְטְרֶנּוּ׃   5:13

Psal. 5:13   For it is You who will bless a righteous one.

                             O Lord, You shall envelop us like a crown of delight.
