מַשְׂכִּיל לְדָוִד בִּהְיוֹתוֹ בַמְּעָרָה תְפִלָּה׃   142:1

Psal. 142:1   A poem of David's, on his being in the cave, a prayer:

קוֹלִי אֶל־יְהוָה אֶזְעָק קוֹלִי אֶל־יְהוָה אֶתְחַנָּן׃   142:2

Psal. 142:2   My voice, I must cry out to the Lord;

                                 my voice to the Lord, I must seek favor.

אֶשְׁפֹּךְ לְפָנָיו שִׂיחִי צָרָתִי לְפָנָיו אַגִּיד׃   142:3

Psal. 142:3   I must pour out my complaint before Him,

                                 my trouble I will announce before Him.

בְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי רוּחִי וְאַתָּה יָדַעְתָּ נְתִיבָתִי בְּאֹרַח־זוּ אֲהַלֵּךְ טָמְנוּ פַח לִי׃   142:4

Psal. 142:4   With my spirit fainting away about me, yet You know my path.

                                 They have concealed a trap for me on this way I would walk.

הַבֵּיט יָמִין וּרְאֵה וְאֵין־לִי מַכִּיר אָבַד מָנוֹס מִמֶּנִּי אֵין דּוֹרֵשׁ לְנַפְשִׁי׃   142:5

Psal. 142:5   Regard rightly, and see that no one is having regard for me;

                                 refuge has gone from me; no one is caring for my soul.

זָעַקְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה אָמַרְתִּי אַתָּה מַחְסִי חֶלְקִי בְּאֶרֶץ הַחַיִּים׃   142:6

Psal. 142:6   I cry out to You, Lord;

                                 I say, You are my Shelter,

                       my Portion in the land of the living.

הַקְשִׁיבָה אֶל־רִנָּתִי כִּי־דַלּוֹתִי מְאֹד הַצִּילֵנִי מֵרֹדְפַי כִּי אָמְצוּ מִמֶּנִּי׃   142:7

Psal. 142:7   Attend to my ringing cry, for I languish.

                                  Deliver me from my persecutors,

                        for they are stronger than I.

הוֹצִיאָה מִמַּסְגֵּר נַפְשִׁי לְהוֹדוֹת אֶת־שְׁמֶךָ בִּי יַכְתִּרוּ צַדִּיקִים כִּי תִגְמֹל עָלָי׃   142:8

Psal. 142:8   Bring my soul out from the dungeon to praise Your name.

                                  Let the righteous be crowned because of me,

                         that You would deal fully on my behalf.
