Psalms 138

 

לְדָוִד אֹודְךָ בְכָל־לִבִּי נֶגֶד אֱלֹהִים אֲזַמְּרֶךָּ׃   138:1

Psal. 138:1   David's:

                        I will thank You with all my heart;

                               in the presence of mighty ones I will sing praises to You.

אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשְׁךָ וְאֹודֶה אֶת־שְׁמֶךָ עַל־חַסְדְּךָ וְעַל־אֲמִתֶּךָ כִּי־הִגְדַּלְתָּ עַל־כָּלשִׁ־מְךָ    138:1

אִמְרָתֶךָ׃

Psal. 138:2   I will bow down to Your holy Temple and thank Your name,

                               because of Your mercy and because of Your truth,

                       for You have magnified Your name, Your word, above all else.

בְּיֹום קָרָאתִי וַתַּעֲנֵנִי תַּרְהִבֵנִי בְנַפְשִׁי עֹז׃   138:3

Psal. 138:3   At the time I called and You answered me,

                               You would have made me bold, strong in my soul.

יֹודוּךָ יְהוָה כָּל־מַלְכֵי־אָרֶץ כִּי מְעוּ אִמְרֵי־פִיךָ׃   138:4

Psal. 138:4   All the kings of the earth shall give thanks to You, O Lord,

                               for they hear the words of Your “mouth,”

וְיָשִׁירוּ בְּדַרְכֵי יְהוָה כִּי גָדֹול כְּבֹוד יְהוָה׃   138:5

Psal. 138:5   and they shall sing according to the ways of the Lord,

                               for the glory of the Lord is great.

כִּי־רָם יְהוָה וְשָׁפָל יִרְאֶה וְגָבֹהַּ מִמֶּרְחָק יְיֵדָע׃   138:6

Psal. 138:6   Though the Lord is lofty,

                               yet He would look after a lowly one,

                        and from a distance He would know of any haughty.

אִם־אֵלֵךְ בְּקֶרֶב צָרָה תְּחַיֵּנִי עַל אַף אֹיְבַי תִּשְׁלַח יָדֶךָ וְתֹושִׁיעֵנִי יְמִינֶךָ׃   138:7

Psal. 138:7   Were I to walk in the midst of trouble,

                               You would preserve me.

                        You would send forth Your “hand” against the anger of my adversaries,

                               and Your right “hand” would save me.

יְהוָה יִגְמֹר בַּעֲדִי יְהוָה חַסְדְּךָ לְעֹולָם מַעֲשֵׂי יָדֶיךָ אַל־תֶּרֶף׃   138:8

Psal. 138:8   Let the Lord accomplish on my behalf.

                               O Lord, Your mercy is forever.

                       May You not forsake the works of Your “hands.”
