This psalm gives glory to the name of our God in a manner and in terms most emphatic.

הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה כִּי־טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:1

Psal. 136:1   Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,

                               for His mercy is forever.

הוֹדוּ לֵאלֹהֵי הָאֱלֹהִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:2

Psal. 136:2   Give thanks to the God of gods,

                               for His mercy is forever.

הוֹדוּ לַאֲדֹנֵי הָאֲדֹנִים כִּי לְעֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:3

Psal. 136:3   Give thanks to the Master of masters,

                               for His mercy is forever.

לְעֹשֵׂה נִפְלָאוֹת גְּדֹלוֹת לְבַדּוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:4

Psal. 136:4   To the only great Doer of wonders,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְעֹשֵׂה הַשָּׁמַיִם בִּתְבוּנָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:5

Psal. 136:5   To the Maker of the heavens with intelligence,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְרֹקַע הָאָרֶץ עַל־הַמָּיִם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:6

Psal. 136:6   To He Who spreads the land above the waters,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְעֹשֵׂה אוֹרִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:7

Psal. 136:7   To the Maker of the great lights,

                               for His mercy is forever,

אֶת־הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת בַּיּוֹם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:8

Psal. 136:8   the sun to rule by day,

                               for His mercy is forever,

אֶת־הַיָּרֵחַ וְכוֹכָבִים לְמֶמְשְׁלוֹת בַּלָּיְלָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:9

Psal. 136:9   the moon and stars to rule by night,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְמַכֵּה מִצְרַיִם בִּבְכוֹרֵיהֶם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:10

Psal. 136:10   To the Scourge of the Egyptians by their first born,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וַיּוֹצֵא יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:11

Psal. 136:11   as He brought Israel out from their midst,

                               for His mercy is forever,

בְּיָד חֲזָקָה וּבִזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:12

Psal. 136:12   with a strong "hand" and with an outstretched "arm,"

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְגֹזֵר יַם־סוּף לִגְזָרִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:13

Psal. 136:13   To the Splitter of the Reed Sea into parts,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וְהֶעֱבִיר יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתוֹכוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:14

Psal. 136:14   as He caused Israel to cross over in its midst,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וְנִעֵר פַּרְעֹה וְחֵילוֹ בְיַם־סוּף כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:15

Psal. 136:15   and shook off Pharaoh and his army in the Reed Sea,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְמוֹלִיךְ עַמּוֹ בַּמִּדְבָּר כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:16

Psal. 136:16   To the Guide of His people in the wilderness,

                               for His mercy is forever!

לְמַכֵּה מְלָכִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:17

Psal. 136:17   To the Scourge of great kings,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וַיַּהֲרֹג מְלָכִים אַדִּירִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:18

Psal. 136:18   as He slew mighty kings,

                               for His mercy is forever,

לְסִיחוֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:19

Psal. 136:19   for example, Sihon, king of the Amorites,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וּלְעוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:20

Psal. 136:20   and Og, the king of Bashan,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וְנָתַן אַרְצָם לְנַחֲלָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:21

Psal. 136:21   and gave their land as a heritage,

                               for His mercy is forever,

נַחֲלָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדּוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:22

Psal. 136:22   an inheritance for Israel, His servant,

                               for His mercy is forever,

שֶׁבְּשִׁפְלֵנוּ זָכַר לָנוּ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:23

Psal. 136:23   Who remembered about us in our lowest state,

                               for His mercy is forever,

וַיִּפְרְקֵנוּ מִצָּרֵינוּ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:24

Psal. 136:24   and rescued us from our enemies,

                               for His mercy is forever,

נֹתֵן לֶחֶם לְכָל־בָּשָׂר כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:25

Psal. 136:25   giving bread to all flesh,

                               for His mercy is forever!

הוֹדוּ לְאֵל הַשָּׁמָיִם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ׃   136:26

Psal. 136:26   Give thanks to the God of the heavens,

                               for His mercy is forever.
