הַאֲזִינוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וַאֲדַבֵּרָה וְתִשְׁמַע הָאָרֶץ אִמְרֵי־פִי׃   32:1

Deut. 32:1   “Give ear, you heavens, and I will speak,

                      And let the earth hear the words of my mouth.”

יַעֲרֹף כַּמָּטָר לִקְחִי תִּזַּל כַּטַּל אִמְרָתִי כִּשְׂעִירִם עֲלֵי־דֶשֶׁא וְכִרְבִיבִים עֲלֵי־עֵשֶׂב׃   32:2

Deut. 32:2   “My doctrine shall drop like rain,

                     My utterance shall distill like dew,

                      Like small rains on the tender grass,

                      And like showers on herb.”

כִּי שֵׁם יְהוָה אֶקְרָא הָבוּ גֹדֶל לֵאלֹהֵינוּ׃   32:3

Deut. 32:3   “For I will proclaim the name of the Lord,

                      Ascribe greatness to our God.”

הַצּוּר תָּמִים פָּעֳלֹו כִּי כָל־דְּרָכָיו מִשְׁפָּט אֵל אֱמוּנָה וְאֵין עָוֶל צַדִּיק וְיָשָׁר הוּא׃   32:4

Deut. 32:4   “The Rock!  Perfect is His work,

                     For all His ways are justice.

                     A God of faithfulness and without iniquity;

                     Just and right is He.”

שִׁחֵת לֹו לֹא בָּנָיו מוּםָם דֹּור עִקֵּשׁ וּפְתַלְתֹּל׃   32:5

Deut. 32:5   “Is corruption His?  No! 

                     His children are blemished,

                     A generation perverse and crooked.”

הֲ־לַיְהוָה תִּגְמְלוּ־זֹאת עַם נָבָל וְלֹא חָכָם הֲלֹוא־הוּא אָבִיךָ קָּנֶךָ הוּא עָשְׂךָ וַיְכֹנְנֶךָ׃   32:6

Deut. 32:6   “Will you give this reward to the Lord,

                     O foolish people and without wisdom?

                      Is not He your father possessing you,

                     Who made you and established you?”

זְכֹר יְמֹות עֹולָם בִּינוּ שְׁנֹות דֹּור־וָדֹור שְׁאַל אָבִיךָ וְיַגֵּדְךָ זְקֵנֶיךָ וְיֹאמְרוּ לָךְ׃   32:7

Deut. 32:7   “Recall the days of old,

                     Perceive the years of many generations.

                     Ask your father and he will tell you,

                     Your elders and they will speak to you.”

בְּהַנְחֵל עֶלְיֹון גֹּויִם בְּהַפְרִידֹו בְּנֵי אָדָם יַצֵּב גְּבֻלֹת עַמִּים לְמִסְפַּר בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃   32:8

Deut. 32:8   “With the Most High dividing the nations,

                     With His separating the children of humanity,

                     He will establish the territory of the peoples

                     According to the number of the children of Israel.”

כִּי חֵלֶק יְהֹוָה עַמֹּו יַעֲקֹב חֶבֶל נַחֲלָתֹו׃   32:9

Deut. 32:9    “For the portion of the Lord is His people,

                      Jacob the lot of His inheritance.”

יִמְצָאֵהוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִדְבָּר וּבְתֹהוּ יְלֵל יְשִׁמֹן יְסֹבְבֶנְהוּ יְבֹונְנֵהוּ יִצְּרֶנְהוּ כְּאִישֹׁון עֵינֹו׃   32:10

Deut. 32:10   “He will find him in a wilderness land,

                        And in a howling waste, a desert.

                        He will surround him, He will instruct him,

                        He will keep him as the apple of His eye.”

כְּנֶשֶׁר יָעִיר קִנֹּו עַל־גֹּוזָלָיו יְרַחֵף יִפְרֹשׂ כְּנָפָיו יִקָּחֵהוּ יִשָּׂאֵהוּ עַל־אֶבְרָתֹו׃   32:11

Deut. 32:11   “Like an eagle, He will stir up His nest;

                       He will flutter over His young;

                       He will spread His canopy;

                       He will take him, carry him on His wing.”

יְהוָה בָּדָד יַנְחֶנּוּ וְאֵין עִמֹּו אֵל נֵכָר׃   32:12

Deut. 32:12   “The Lord alone will guide him,

                        And there will be no strange god with him.”

יַרְכִּבֵהוּ עַל־(בָּמֹותֵי) [בָּמֳתֵי] אָרֶץ וַיֹּאכַל תְּנוּבֹת שָׂדָי וַיֵּנִקֵהוּ דְבַשׁ מִסֶּלַע וְשֶׁמֶן מֵחַלְמִישׁ צוּר׃   32:13

Deut. 32:13   “He will cause him to ride on the high places of the earth,

                        And he will eat of the fruit of the field,

                        And He will give him honey from the rock to suck,

                        And oil from the flint stone,

The word in parentheses, translated as the high places of,  is misspelled, having an extra unnecessary vav.  The correct spelling is in the brackets.

חֶמְאַת בָּקָר וַחֲלֵב צֹאן עִם־חֵלֶב כָּרִים וְאֵילִים בְּנֵי־בָשָׁן וְעַתּוּדִים עִם־חֵלֶב כִּלְיֹות חִטָּה וְדַם־עֵנָב   32:14

תִּשְׁתֶּה־חָמֶר׃

Deut. 32:14   The curd of kine and the milk of sheep,

                        Besides the fat of lambs and of rams of the breed of Bashan,

                        And of he-goats, with the fat kidney of wheat.

                        And of the juice of the grape you will drink red wine.’

The region of Bashan is believed to have been east of the Jordan and famed for its cattle and its rich pastures.

וַיִּשְׁמַן יְשֻׁרוּן וַיִּבְעָט שָׁמַנְתָּ עָבִיתָ כָּשִׂיתָ וַיִּטֹּשׁ אֱלֹוהַ עָשָׂהוּ וַיְנַבֵּל צוּר יְשֻׁעָתֹו׃   32:15

Deut. 32:15   “And Jeshurun became fat, and he despised

                        -- You waxed fat, you grew thick, you became gross

                        -- And rejected the God Who made him,

                        And he disgraced the Rock of his salvation.”

יַקְנִאֻהוּ בְּזָרִים בְּתֹועֵבֹת יַכְעִיסֻהוּ׃   32:16

Deut. 32:16   “He will make Him jealous with strange things,

                       He will provoke Him with abominations.”

יִזְבְּחוּ לַשֵּׁדִים לֹא אֱלֹהַ אֱלֹהִים לֹא יְדָעוּם חֲדָשִׁים מִקָּרֹב בָּאוּ לֹא שְׂעָרוּם אֲבֹתֵיכֶם׃   32:17

Deut. 32:17   They will sacrifice to demons, not to a god,

                        Gods that they do not know;

                        New ones, they came from a neighbor;

                        Your fathers did not fear them.”

צוּר יְלָדְךָ תֶּשִׁי וַתִּשְׁכַּח אֵל מְחֹלְלֶךָ׃   32:18

Deut. 32:18   “A Rock begot you, you will be unmindful,

                        And you forget the God giving birth to you.”

וַיַּרְא יְהוָה וַיִּנְאָץ מִכַּעַס בָּנָיו וּבְנֹתָיו׃   32:19

Deut. 32:19   “And the Lord sees, and He ‘despises,’

                        Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.”

וַיֹּאמֶר אַסְתִּירָה פָנַי מֵהֶם אֶרְאֶה מָה אַחֲרִיתָם כִּי דֹור תַּהְפֻּכֹת הֵמָּה בָּנִים לֹא־אֵמֻן בָּם׃   32:20

Deut. 32:20   “And He says, ‘I will conceal My presence from them,

                        I can see what their end is;

                        For they are a perverse generation,

                       Children without faith in them.’

הֵם קִנְאוּנִי בְלֹא־אֵל כִּעֲסוּנִי בְּהַבְלֵיהֶם וַאֲנִי אַקְנִיאֵם בְּלֹא־עָם בְּגֹוי נָבָל אַכְעִיסֵם׃   32:21

Deut. 32:21   ‘They have roused My ‘jealousy’ with a no-god,

                       Provoked Me with their vanities;

                       So I will rouse their jealousy with a no-people,

                        I will provoke them with a vile nation.’

כִּי־אֵשׁ קָדְחָה בְאַפִּי וַתִּיקַד עַד־שְׁאֹול תַּחְתִּית וַתֹּאכַל אֶרֶץ וִיבֻלָהּ וַתְּלַהֵט מֹוסְדֵי הָרִים׃   32:22

Deut. 32:22   ‘For a fire has been kindled in My ‘nostrils;’

                       So it burns all the way to the nether world beneath,

                       And eats the earth and its fruit,

                       And sets ablaze the foundations of the mountains.’

אַסְפֶּה עָלֵימֹו רָעֹות חִצַּי אֲכַלֶּה־בָּם׃   32:23

Deut. 32:23   ‘I will heap evils on them;

                        I will expend My arrows on them.’

מְזֵי רָעָב וּלְחֻמֵי רֶשֶׁף וְקֶטֶב מְרִירִי וְשֶׁן־בְּהֵמֹות אֲשַׁלַּח־בָּם עִם־חֲמַת זֹחֲלֵי עָפָר׃   32:24

Deut. 32:24   ‘I shall send the burning of hunger,

                       And the consumption of the fiery thunderbolt,

                       And bitter destruction, and the teeth of beasts, on them,

                       With the venom of the creeping things of the dust.’

מִחוּץ תְּשַׁכֶּל־חֶרֶב וּמֵחֲדָרִים אֵימָה גַּם־בָּחוּר גַּם־בְּתוּלָה יֹונֵק עִם־אִישׁ שֵׂיבָה׃   32:25

Deut. 32:25   ‘From outside the sword shall bereave,

                       And terror from the bedchambers,

                       The young man also, also the maiden,

                       The suckling with the aged one.’

אָמַרְתִּי אַפְאֵיהֶם אַשְׁבִּיתָה מֵאֱנֹושׁ זִכְרָם׃   32:26

Deut. 32:26   ‘I say I will scatter them;

                        I would make their memory cease from humanity,

לוּלֵי כַּעַס אֹויֵב אָגוּר פֶּן־יְנַכְּרוּ צָרֵימֹו פֶּן־יֹאמְרוּ יָדֵינוּ רָמָה וְלֹא יְהוָה פָּעַל כָּל־זֹאת׃   32:27

Deut. 32:27   Were it not the provocation of the enemy I would stir up,

                        Lest would notice his adversaries,

                        Lest they would say, ‘Our hand is uplifted,’

                        And not, ‘The Lord has ordained all this.’

כִּי־גֹוי אֹבַד עֵצֹות הֵמָּה וְאֵין בָּהֶם תְּבוּנָה׃   32:28

Deut. 32:28   ‘For they are a nation devoid of counselors,

                       And there is no discernment in them.’

לוּ חָכְמוּ יַשְׂכִּילוּ זֹאת יָבִינוּ לְאַחֲרִיתָם׃   32:29

Deut. 32:29   ‘If they were wise they would understand this,

                       They would give heed to their end time.’

אֵיכָה יִרְדֹּף אֶחָד אֶלֶף וּשְׁנַיִם יָנִיסוּ רְבָבָה אִם־לֹא כִּי־צוּרָם מְכָרָם וַיהוָה הִסְגִּירָם׃   32:30

Deut. 32:30   ‘How could one chase a thousand,

                       And two put ten thousand to flight,

                        If not that their rock surrenders them,

                       And the Lord delivers them?’

כִּי לֹא כְצוּרֵנוּ צוּרָם וְאֹיְבֵינוּ פְּלִילִים׃   32:31

Deut. 32:31   ‘For their rock is not like our Rock,

                       Even our enemies are judges.’

כִּי־מִגֶּפֶן סְדֹם גַּפְנָם וּמִשַּׁדְמֹת עֲמֹרָה עֲנָבֵמֹו עִנְּבֵי־רֹושׁ אַשְׁכְּלֹת מְרֹרֹת לָמֹו׃   32:32

Deut. 32:32   ‘For their vine is from the vine of Sodom,

                       And from the fields of Gomorrah.

                        Its grapes are grapes of gall,

                       Bitter clusters theirs.’

חֲמַת תַּנִּינִם יֵינָם וְרֹאשׁ פְּתָנִים אַכְזָר׃   32:33

Deut. 32:33   ‘Their wine is the venom of serpents,

                       And the poison of cruel asps.’

הֲלֹא־הוּא כָּמֻס עִמָּדִי חָתֻם בְּאֹוצְרֹתָי׃   32:34

Deut. 32:34   ‘Is not this hidden with Me,

                       Sealed up in My treasuries?’

לִי נָקָם וְשִׁלֵּם לְעֵת תָּמוּט רַגְלָם כִּי קָרֹוב יֹום אֵידָם וְחָשׁ עֲתִדֹת לָמֹו׃   32:35

Deut. 32:35   ‘For Me, vengeance and recompense

                       At the time their foot shall slip,

                       For the day of their calamity is at hand,

                       And the things of theirs to come are ready.’”

כִּי־יָדִין יְהוָה עַמֹּו וְעַל־עֲבָדָיו יִתְנֶחָם כִּי יִרְאֶה כִּי־אָזְלַת יָד וְאֶפֶס עָצוּר וְעָזוּב׃   32:36

Deut. 32:36   “For the Lord shall judge His people,

                       And He will avenge Himself for His servant,

                       When He sees that the hand is exhausted,

                        And spent, abandoned and withheld,

וְאָמַר אֵי אֱלֹהֵימֹו צוּר חָסָיוּ בֹו׃   32:37

Deut. 32:37   And it would be said, ‘Where is their God,

                       The Rock in Whom they trusted?’

אֲשֶׁר חֵלֶב זְבָחֵימֹו יֹאכֵלוּ יִשְׁתּוּ יֵין נְסִיכָם יָקוּמוּ וְיַעְזְרֻכֶם יְהִי עֲלֵיכֶם סִתְרָה׃   32:38

Deut. 32:38   ‘Who shall eat the fat of their sacrifices,

                       Drink the wine of the drink offerings?’

                       Let them rise up and help you,

                       Be a protection over you.

רְאוּ עַתָּה כִּי אֲנִי אֲנִי הוּא וְאֵין אֱלֹהִים עִמָּדִי אֲנִי אָמִית וַאֲחַיֶּה מָחַצְתִּי וַאֲנִי אֶרְפָּא וְאֵין מִיָּדִי   32:39

מַצִּיל׃

Deut. 32:39   ‘See now, that only I am He

                       And there is no god beside Me.

                        I will make die and I will restore to life,

                        I have wounded but I will heal,

                       And none but My ‘hand’ will be delivering.’

כִּי־אֶשָּׂא אֶל־שָׁמַיִם יָדִי וְאָמַרְתִּי חַי אָנֹכִי לְעֹלָם׃   32:40

Deut. 32:40   ‘For I can lift up My ‘hand’ to the heavens,

                       And say, ‘I live forever.’

אִם־שַׁנֹּותִי בְּרַק חַרְבִּי וְתֹאחֵז בְּמִשְׁפָּט יָדִי אָשִׁיב נָקָם לְצָרָי וְלִמְשַׂנְאַי אֲשַׁלֵּם׃   32:41

Deut. 32:41   ‘If I have sharpened My sword with saliva,

                       Then My ‘hand’ will take hold in judgment;

                        I will render vengeance to My adversaries,

                       And I will reciprocate to those hating Me.’

אַשְׁכִּיר חִצַּי מִדָּם וְחַרְבִּי תֹּאכַל בָּשָׂר מִדַּם חָלָל וְשִׁבְיָה מֵרֹאשׁ פַּרְעֹות אֹויֵב׃   32:42

Deut. 32:42   ‘I will make My arrows drunk from blood,

                       And My sword shall eat flesh,

                       From the blood of the slain and the captive,

                       From the chiefs of the pogroms of the enemy.’”

הַרְנִינוּ גֹויִם עַמֹּו כִּי דַם־עֲבָדָיו יִקֹּום וְנָקָם יָשִׁיב לְצָרָיו וְכִפֶּר אַדְמָתֹו עַמֹּו׃   32:43

Deut. 32:43   “Sing aloud, O heathen, of His people!

                        For the blood of His servants He shall avenge,

                        And render vengeance to His adversaries,

                        And cleanse His land, His people.’”

 וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה וַיְדַבֵּר אֶת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵי הַשִּׁירָה־הַזֹּאת בְּאָזְנֵי הָעָם הוּא וְהֹושֵׁעַ בִּן־נוּן׃   32:44

Deut. 32:44   And Moses came and uttered all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun.

וַיְכַל מֹשֶׁה לְדַבֵּר אֶת־כָּל־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֶל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃   32:45

Deut. 32:45   When Moses made an end of uttering all these words to all of Israel,

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם שִׂימוּ לְבַבְכֶם לְכָל־הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מֵעִיד בָּכֶם הַיֹּום אֲשֶׁר תְּצַוֻּם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם   32:46

לִשְׁמֹר לַעֲשֹׂות אֶת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵי הַתֹּורָה הַזֹּאת׃

Deut. 32:46   then he said to them, “Commit your heart to all the words that I have been repeating to you today that you may command your children of them to take heed to do all the words of this Torah.”

כִּי לֹא־דָבָר רֵק הוּא םִכֶּם כִּי־הוּא חַיֵּיכֶם וּבַדָּבָר הַזֶּה תַּאֲרִיכוּ יָמִים עַל־הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם   32:47

עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ׃

Deut. 32:47   “For it is not a vain thing from you, because it is your life, and with this thing you will prolong the days of the land where you will be passing over the Jordan to possess it.”

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה בְּעֶצֶם הַיֹּום הַזֶּה לֵאמֹר׃   32:48

Deut. 32:48   And the Lord spoke to Moses on that selfsame day saying,

עֲלֵה אֶל־הַר הָעֲבָרִים הַזֶּה הַר־נְבֹו אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ מֹואָב אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי יְרֵחֹו וּרְאֵה אֶת־אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן   32:49

אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַאֲחֻזָּה׃

Deut. 32:49   “Go up to the mountain of those who cross over, this is Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho, and behold the land of Canaan that I will be giving to the children of Israel for a possession,

וּמֻת בָּהָר אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹלֶה שָׁמָּה וְהֵאָסֵף אֶל־עַמֶּיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר־מֵת אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ בְּהֹר הָהָר וַיֵּאָסֶף   32:50

אֶל־עַמָּיו׃

Deut. 32:50   and die on the mountain where you will be going up, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron, your brother, died on the mountain of Hor and was gathered to his people.”

עַל אֲשֶׁר מְעַלְתֶּם בִּי בְּתֹוךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמֵי־מְרִיבַת קָדֵשׁ מִדְבַּר־צִן עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹא־קִדַּשְׁתֶּם אֹותִי   32:51

בְּתֹוךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

Deut. 32:51   “Because you acted unfaithfully with Me in the midst of the children of Israel at the waters of Meribath-kadesh of the wilderness of Zin, because that you did not sanctify Me in the midst of the children of Israel,

כִּי מִנֶּגֶד תִּרְאֶה אֶת־הָאָרֶץ וְשָׁמָּה לֹא תָבֹוא אֶל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃   32:52

Deut. 32:52   therefore you may see the land from the opposite side, but you will not go there, to the land that I am giving to the children of Israel.”
