Isaiah 50

Isai. 50:1   Thus says the Lord:

“Where is this, the bill of divorce of your mother,

by which I sent her away?

Or who is it of My creditors to whom I sold you?

Behold, over your iniquities you were sold,

and over your transgressions your mother was sent away.”

Isai. 50:2   “Why was it I came and there was no one,

I called and there was no answer?

Is My ‘hand’ too short to redeem,

or is there no strength in Me to deliver?

Behold, with My rebuke I can dry up the sea,

                             make rivers a wilderness;

                     their fish would smell bad,

from there not being any water,

so they would die by thirst.”

Isai. 50:3   “I can array the heavens with blackness,

                              and make their covering sackcloth.”

Isai. 50:4   My Master, the Lord, has given me

                               the language of the learned

to know to sustain one weary of words.

                              He would waken every morning,

He would rouse for me an ear to listen like the learned.

Isai. 50:5   My Master, the Lord, opens up an ear for me,

and I do not resist, I do not turn back.

Isai. 50:6   I show my back to those smiting

and my cheeks to the hair pluckers.

I do not hide my face from those shaming and spitting.

Isai. 50:7   But my Master, the Lord, would help me;

                                therefore I am not hurt;

therefore I set my face like a rock,

and I know I would not be ashamed.

Isai. 50:8   My Justifier is near.

Who would contend with me, let us stand together.

Who would be my adversary, let him come near to me.

Isai. 50:9   Behold, my Master, the Lord, will help me.

Who is it would condemn me?

Behold, all of them shall become decayed as a garment.

                               The moth shall consume them.

Isai. 50:10   Who among you reveres the Lord,

listens to the voice of His servant?

Though he walks in dark places

and there is no light for him,

let him trust in the name of the Lord

so he may rely on his God.

Isai. 50:11   “Behold, all of you kindlers of fire,

                                 girders of firebrands!

Vanish in the flame of your fire

and in the firebrands you kindled!

By My ‘hand’ is this for you:

You shall lie down to sorrow.”
